Mangiamo in Positano and Capri!
My family and I recently went to the Amalfi Coast to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. Food is our family love language so I wanted to share some of our favorite finds!
Breakfast
Looking for a quick spot for breakfast that won’t break the bank or eat into your “things to do” for that day? Enter Posides (84017 Positano Campania Italy). We stumbled upon this little place because it was around the corner from our Air BnB. We were expecting to grab a cappuccino and a croissant but instead we decided on the avocado toast topped with a poached egg. The inside of this little café is adorable decked out in all things white and blue. The food was great and fueled us for the day of exploring ahead.
Pizza
Located near the main beach in Positano is Capricci Pizzeria. You’d likely walk past it if you weren’t looking for it. I had originally saw this restaurant on a blog that listed pizzerias to try in Positano and it didn’t disappoint. My family and I were seated outside for lunch and we ordered 3 pizzas, mussels and the zucchini. It was all delicious and I would highly recommend! The cherry on top? Your meal is accompanied with a stunning view of the ocean. Life just does not get better.
Drinks
Ok so you made the long stroll down Positano… if you’re anything like me and my family you’re likely looking for a quick refreshment. Blue Bar is a great spot to do just that. Located right along the beach it’s the perfect spot to kick back, relax, enjoy a drink and take in the breathtaking Amalfi view. The bar itself has a lightly covered pergola and the drinks were delicious! During our time there we actually went back several times. Fun Fact – this bar was actually the scene of a famous old movie filmed in Positano that actually used a lot of locals as extras! A mosaic of the movie poster is placed by the church in Positano!
Dinner
If you’ve done any research on Positano restaurants or known anyone who has visited you’ve probably heard of Chez Black. This beachfront, nautical themed restaurant is certainly a place to be seen. Serving up Mediterranean cuisine and your traditional favorites. If you’re visiting on a budget however it’s not a must-eat but the atmosphere is certainly fun! The food isn’t bad by any means but I’ve had better. ☺️
Out of the two restaurants I prefer Da Vincenzo. We walked past this restaurant (that’s located higher up on the Positano hill) every night and every night there was a line of people waiting. We decided to check it out on our last night. We were seated right away, outside just before sunset. The staff was very attentive and kind and the food was amazing! If you know you want to go here for dinner I would recommend making recommendations. Though, no worries if you have to wait. They’ll give you a glass of complimentary prosecco to ease your hangry.
Alternative Dining
If you’re in an Air BnB with a kitchen why not try a home cooked meal! There are a handful cute little markets along Positano (not cheap but nothing really is there). Plus, my family and I just love to cook so much and our balcony was so incredibly beautiful we were so excited to whip up something in the kitchen and take it all in. What did we decide to make?
a. Prosciutto & melon
b. Homemade bruschetta
When studying abroad in Rome I learned how to make the easiest, most tasty bruschetta. Future blog post maybe?
c. Pesto with pancetta
d. Meatballs and red sauce (the meatballs were homemade by the shop owner) d-lish!
e. Dessert – homemade tiramisu made by the same shop owner who made the meatballs!
Capri
Ristorante Lido Da Gioia Capri
We went to Capri for a few hours one afternoon during our boat tour. We docked the boat right near Restorante Lido Da Gioia Capri. It’s located near the Marina Piccola and is on the water near a very cute and tiny beach. They do have a smaller sandwich menu but we decided to sit down and enjoy a slightly longer lunch. The pasta was phenomenal! A classic Amalfi dish is spaghetti vongole (with clams) and let me tell you… it was to die for. We also had prosciutto and melon and my brother indulged in a classic spaghetti with red sauce. Y-U-M. Take me back!
P.S. While visiting Capri I love their half orange/half lemon granita! So refreshing on a hot summer’s day.
Let me know what your favorite restaurants in Positano are so I can add to the list the next time I go!
