Baby we should hit the south of France…
Making our way from Paris to Greece we figured why not make a pit stop in Monte Carlo? We had 24 hours to spend in the beautiful country of Monaco and we were going to make the most of it, in the most fabulous way we could.
We flew from Paris to Nice and then took a bus from Nice to the Monte Carlo casino. Again, we stayed in an Air BnB. It was the perfect apartment for a whirlwind 24 hour stay. Located central to everything, near the Hermitage Hotel and the Casino, and best of all, right in between one of the many Pradas and a Zara. I mean, could a girl ask for anything better?
We knew we had to make the most of our time so we checked into our room, did a quick wardrobe change and quickly made our way towards the casino.
Dinner at Café de Paris
As Téa and I strolled down to the casino we realized how hungry we were (of course, we’re always eating). We walked on over to Café de Paris, a place to see and be seen, sat down at our table, and when we opened our menus our eyes grew big. HOLY EXPENSIVE. I know, I know, it’s Monte Carlo, what did we expect? But it was just a quick shock. We decided that it was a *hopefully not* but possibly a once in a lifetime experience, so we stayed. And to be honest the food was incredible! And the drinks… incredibly strong!
Nighttime Stroll around the City
To work off our pasta and cocktails we went for a nighttime stroll around the city. If you’ve never been there, the whole city, well the whole country actually, is VERY walkable.
Casino de Monte Carlo
If you went to Monte Carlo and didn’t go to the casino, did you really even go? We think not. We both changed into gowns (the casino has a strict dress code and we always dress to impress) and made our way over. Outside the casino, the lineup of cars looks like it's straight out of a luxury car magazine. Everything from Lamborghinis to Ferraris, Rolls Royce’s, Bugattis and more. Everyone was oohing and ahhing, snapping pics, and we were no different.
We made our ways inside and WOW. The casino is head to toe dripping in gold, with chandeliers and floor to ceiling mirrors. It totally was a scene out of a James Bond movie. Naturally, we had ourselves a photoshoot. (We could totally be the next Bond girls, no?)
Early Morning Strolls
Wanting to see the city in the day light we grabbed a croissant and cappuccino to go and made our way around Monte Carlo, in its entirety. From the gardens, to the beach, we pretty much saw it all in no time. With a few hours left, and avoiding doing damage at Chanel, we decided to go lay poolside at Nikki Beach.
Nikki Beach Monte Carlo
Talk about VIEWS! If you want to relax and be boujee in Monte Carlo during the day, you go to Nikki Beach. As we made our way to our seats by the pool we were reminded that it was the 4th of July and Nikki Beach was celebrating. American flags were everywhere. We quickly made ourselves comfortable, grabbed an overpriced drink(duh), and kicked up our feet.
And that’s how you successfully spend 24 hours in Monte Carlo… on a 25-year-old budget that is.
